Emerging from the Caribbean nation of Guyana, up-and-coming pop artist Poonam Singh is attracting audiences with her alluring vocals. Poonam grew up in the countryside. A small English-speaking country in South America, Guyana is filled with beautiful people from many different backgrounds. Of Indian descent, Poonam began singing at mandir, the Hindu temple of worship. As a child, she learned to sing bhajans and religious songs in Hindi.

She began to embrace her God-given gift, deciding in 2011 to enter the GT&T Jingle and Song Competition. At just 16 years old, she placed second in the singing competition and would go on to become the brand ambassador for the company. Poonam went on to study communication at the University of Guyana and later attended law school at the University of London.

With pride in her country, Poonam Singh was inspired to write the song, “GUYANA.” “GUYANA” attracted the attention of the director of Miss Global International of Guyana, who asked Poonam to represent her country in an international pageant.

With the immense support of her own nation, Poonam Singh feels she has conquered the market of Guyana and is now expanding to a worldwide audience. She is currently spending considerable time in New York, reaching the ears of American listeners. Coming from a third-world country with no music scene and reaching her level of success is impressive. Followers are living vicariously through her music and connecting to the real-life experiences she shares. In a world filled with hate, it is easy to sell negativity, but Poonam is proving it is even easier to sell love. She is spreading positivity through her music. Pulling audiences out of the darkness, her voice is a beacon of light and hope for others.
